Casablanca – largest city in Morocco with the largest port in North Africa:
Those who come to Casablanca experience a modern metropolis influenced by French colonialism with wide boulevards and townhouses. The port city with over 3 million inhabitants offers the visitor as the biggest attraction the mosque Hassan II. It is a masterpiece of architectural art and is built on the cliffs into the sea and was opened after 7 years of construction in 1993. The third largest mosque in the world has room for 20,000 worshippers inside and 80,000 people can pray together outside. Of particular interest to the visitor is that the entire mosque complex is the only one in the country that can be visited. During a one-hour German guided tour we learn more about this magnificent building and are thrilled. Finally, a visit to Rick’s Café, known from the legendary film Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart, is not to be missed. Comfortable and hospitable we are served at the bar and say goodbye to our first stop in Morocco.
Agadir – The bathing center of Morocco on the Atlantic coast:
Arrived in the most popular seaside resort of the country we enjoy the hotel with the adjacent wide sandy beach and listen to the waves of the Atlantic. The surf is impressive, the water inviting for a jump and the 21 degrees water temperature let us enjoy swimming. The city counts 300 sunny days a year and the climate is uniformly pleasant summer and winter. The 10 km long sandy beach invites you to walk and stroll. On the promenade there are numerous restaurants; a good opportunity to enjoy fresh fish accompanied by good Moroccan wine.
Marrakech – Oriental culture in all its facets:
The Riad Nashira, our accommodation for the next 4 nights is located in the Medina (old town) and can not be reached directly by car. But don’t worry, enterprising Moroccans are immediately on hand to take over the guide and luggage. It is advisable for the visitor to stay in the medina; this allows the main sights of the city to be visited on foot. A guide for half a day is a good recommendation. The historical center of the city and at once the most important square is Djamaa el-Fna the “Square of the Beheaded”. Tourists walk through a maze of people, meet snake charmers, dancers, acrobats, musicians, storytellers. Women offer henna tattoos for feet and hands, fresh pomegranate juice is offered and many vendors sell their wares. In the evening, singing, clapping and laughing invite visitors to take a seat at one of the many cookshops and sample Moroccan food and tea.
Anima – the garden of André Heller:
The garden, which covers more than 2 hectares, is a botanical production by artist André Heller, is located 28 km outside Marrakech and can be reached by bus. Opened last year, the garden is described as one of the most beautiful and imaginative gardens in the world. Let them enchant you.
Tip:
Visit the artisans’ souks in the old city of Marrakech.
