von 10.05.2014 bis 29.05.2014
Varied: An 18-day round trip over 5000 kilometers by car create unforgettable impressions about landscape, people and culture. The immense expanses, many untouched forests and lakes, the friendliness and helpfulness of the people particularly distinguish this country.
Vancouver: a great multicultural city with many attractions. From the lookout of the Harbour Center Tower you can look over the whole city, see many cruise ships and container ships on the coast. The city has a very high recreational value, is surrounded by the large Stanley Park (405 ha) and many beaches. The cityscape is a mosaic of skyscrapers, water, parks and botanical gardens.
Victoria the capital of British Columbia is located on Vancouver Island. The mild climate allows nature to flourish and offers a great picture of well-kept parks and gardens. By ferry and bus you can reach the capital in about 3 hours from Vancouver.
Our journey continues over Whistler Mountain where the 2010 Winter Olympics were held. The high mountains guarantee the snow safety and in the village center is well provided for the physical well-being.
After many kilometers through the mountains we reach the Indian territory. Dry steppes, dilapidated houses and many sagebrushes adorn the landscape.
Another highlight was the historic gold mining town of “Bakersville” from 1860. An open-air museum of a special kind with many buildings from back then.
The dead-straight, mile-long highways lead us across “Dawsen Creek” to the next big city. Edmonton is Alberta’s capital and the gateway to the north. This is where northern timberland and southern prairie meet. Since here is only more flat land, the sun shines in high summer until 11 pm and is also known for many festivals. Here is also one of the largest shopping malls in the world, called “West Edmonton Mall”(WEM). 58 entrances, 20000 free parking spaces over 100 restaurants and 800 stores are located here.
We continue on to Calgary, the roads lined with huge herds of cattle and fields of grain. We arrive in a city with a very young population and rich oil and gas resources. The best steaks are served here and the greatest saloons are open. One event that takes place every year is the famous Calgary Stampede. Cowboys show here your skills with the lasso on the back of your horses. We are now at the beginning of the Rocky Montains and continue on to the well-known tourist areas of Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper. An Eldorado for all winter sports enthusiasts, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts. Between 6 and 8 meters of powder snow in winter guarantee skiing pleasure for everyone. The large national park areas are home to bears, moose and many other wild animals. Much untouched nature can still be admired here.
There are many ways to experience Canada, but an unforgettable vacation is guaranteed.
